DS90UB953-Q1: How to isolate UB953 from UB954?

what do you mean by isolating the SER from the DES??

Which distance are you trying to achieve? Are you using Coax cable or STP?

Isolation means no any electronic connection between UB953 and UB954, can not share common GND plane, because leak current is a big risk for endoscope usage.

Distance may be 3-5 meters by STP. AWG32

if you will have no electronic connection between them how would you use them and transfer video and other signals?

for this ditance you do not need any redriver. If you use a standard STP cable such as "Leoni Dacar 535" you can reach 10 meters or more.

i have a related question. i try to isolate UB953 and UB954 by connecting two pairs of UB954 and UB953 and an isolation between the first serializer and the second deserializer (camera --> 2nd serializer --> 2nd deserializer --> isolation --> 1st serializer --> 1st deserializer --> output). but also without the isolation, i can not get it run. i can detect every i2c-adress of the de-/serializers and the camera. which register setting is necessary for this setup?

Between 2nd deserializer and 1st serializer would be CSI-2 signals. What are you using to isolate the CSI-2 interface?

Dear Casey,

at the moment for testing reasons i have no isolation between 2nd deserializer and 1st serializer. when this works, i will add LVDS isolators with a datarate of 1.1 Gbps

Are you trying to configure all SER and DES from the Master?

to configure SER and DES the two pairs of SER and DES are disconnectet because i cannot change the i2c address of the serializer. the system is configured that with connection of the two pairs the control unit sees only the alias address of the first serializer.

for both pairs i use the same register settings except the addresses. is this correct?
