We would like to use TPS65987D in one of ours designs where our device is charging tablet and the tablet is host. We were able to setup evaluation kit part (P/N TPS65987EVM) to negotiate power delivery in a way that our device is charging the tablet while the application on the tablet is communicating with the device. We have working configuration (port is configured as DRP) and we are able to load (export) settings into TPS65987D memory. However, we are not able to store settings in the flash memory. We are using TPS65987EVM to conduct this test and Configuration application version 6.1.1. Can someone explain how to store configuration in FLASH memory so we do not have to reprogram the TPS65987 every time we power on our device.

Hello,

Unless you update the contents of the external FLASH, the TPS65987D will always revert back to the previous FLASH contents on a power cycle.

I did the the same process described in the video. In fact I saw this this vide even before I used the kit. My configuration does not work if I flash the EVM from the current project. If I use the same project and export settings to the device RAM everything works.

Would you be able to elaborate on this statement? Are you unable to flash the EVM at all? Or do you see the window that the flash image has been successfully updated but do not see a change?

The correct description of my problem would be the following: I see the window that the flash image has been successfully updated but I do not see any change.

Hello Franci,

You must do a power cycle on the EVM to load the new flash image. The TPS65987D loads the new binary image from the flash during its initial boot cycle, so you will not see the configuration updated until after your perform a power cycle

I did restart the EVM after each binary image flash but the settings are not taken. I will post more information about this problem later.

Hello Adam,

I think that I still have problem with this evaluation kit.

Below is screenshot showing configuration

This is desired configuration

If I load if I export this configuration in memory everything is working fine.

If I flash the EVM from this project flash process finishes without any problem and verification is ok.

However when I reboot the EVM and read back configuration back I see that some settings are not the same. For instance my configuration for Type- C current was set to 1.5A but after reboot the configuration type- C current was set to 3.0A. To me it looks that some settings are now written correctly into flash.

The same issue happens if I create binary image using Application Customization Tool.

Attached is the binary image created using settings shown in screenshots from above . Please let me know If more information is required in order to resolve this issue.TPS6598_EVM_VEVO_FW_V4.zip
