Hi team

How to select an HDMI 2:1 Mux?

Specs:

1920×1080@60Hz
24 bits color
Two inputs and one output

The bandwidth is 1.49Gbps according to the bandwidth calculator.

It seems that TMDS250 (2.5Gbps 2-TO-1 DVI/HDMI SWITCH) can meet the bandwidth requirement but the datasheet says it only supports 12 bits color depth for 1080P. What is the reason?

And I am also wondering if you could recommend a suitable mux for this application. Thank you.

Requirements:

Input: 2 HDMI sources (choose one out of two)

Output: 1 channel LVDS output

Possible solution:

2 HDMI sources ----> Mux -> RX -> TX ------> LVDS output

Mux: 2:1 HDMI Mux (which device is the optimal choice?)

RX: TFP401A

TX:DS90C387A

HI,

I would recommend the HD3SS215 or the TS3DV642, these two devices should have sufficient bandwidth to support this particular resolution.

I am not sure whether the application needs this sufficient bandwidth. Could you give me more comments?

In addition, "The HDMI and Display Port signal consists of four low-voltage differential signal(LVDS) pairs for the red, green, blue (RGB)video." HDMI is an LVDS output format?

Hi,

The TMDS250 can support the 1920×1080@60Hz resolution with the 24 bits color. The HD3SS215 or the TS3DV642 is recommended in case the customer needs to move to high resolution.
