DS100BR210: Is it compatible with both 1G SFP and 10G SFP?

Hi There,

In my design, DS100BR210 is used as a repeater for SFP and it will need to support for both 1G and 10G.

Which mode should I use for this case.

And is there any operation needed to switch between 1G and 10G?

We should use the same mode for both 1G and 10G. In pin configuration MODE pin should tied to GND through 1K-ohm resistor(SAS mode).

Let the host and link partner perform AN to 1G or 10G?

Greetings,

Normally at 1G there is not a protocol negotiation and given the signal amplitude there may not be enough linearity. So this is why we recommended limiting mode. You can try KR mode and this could work as well but in application where there is no protocol negotiation between the two ends it is preferred to use the limiting mode.

Please consider DS125BR820 linear redriver. You can use DS125BR820 IBIS-AMI model to simulate using your media s-parameter.
