It is possible if the VDDIO supply rail is set to 3.3V as well

Is it possible to run the VDDIO with 3,3V? According the datasheet, only 1,8V are allowed.

Sorry my mistake. For this device it is only 1.8V - I was thinking of the deserializer.

Please use 1.8V only for the pullup on these pins.
