TCA6408A: I2C serial data hold time

"My customer has concern on the min. data hold time spec, tsdh of TCA6408ARSVR because the master needs 300ns.

Do we have alternative solutions to solve this problem? Thanks!"

I don't understand the problem. The 300 ns timing comes from the I2C spec. I've never heard of a device which require longer than a majority of the clock low time to set up data. The master is controlling the clock line, why can't the master make the low period longer if he needs more time to set up data?
