SN65DSI86-Q1: MIPI DSI 4 lane output processor to eDP.

Hi Team,

In one of the customer application they have MIPI DSI 4 lane output from processor, and by using SN65DSIx6-Q1 they want convert into eDP. Can you please confirm that SN65DSI86-Q1 should able work upto 1920x1080 resolution at 60Hz with MIPI DSI 4 lane input, would also like to know about the maximum recommended trace length for eDP and MIPI DSI lines.

Please help with your comments and feed backs.

MIPI DSI 4 lane output from our processor so using SN65DSIx6-Q1 could convert into eDP.

Hi,

For 1920x1080 resolution at 60Hz, the pixel clock frequency is 148.5MHz.

Assume 24bpp, stream bit rate = 148.5 * 24 = 3.564G

For 4 DSI lanes, min_DSI_clock = stream bit rate / (2 * 4) = 445.5MHz.

The max DSI clock frequency that can be supported by DSI86 is 750MHz, so DSI86 will support 1920x1080 resolution at 60Hz.

Customer is having additional query on Converting MIPI to LVDS using SN65DSI85 .

The requirement is,

Only one display should be available at a time.
If display2 is connected we have to detect and turn off display1 and switch input to Display2.

Please verify whether the SN65DSI85 will work as in this configuration and support required resolution 1080P.
