SN65DSI83: About methods of terminating DA3P/N pins

Hi Team,

We would like to use SN65DSI83 at 16bit(R:5, G:6, B:5) so A_Y3P/N is NC.

Then, we would like to disable DATA LANE 3.

Is this setting possible?

If yes, could you please let us know the methods of terminating DA3P/N pins (NC or pulled down etc.)?

Hi Hide-san,

The DSI83 does not support RGB565. Please reference section 7.4.5 of the datasheet for supported DSI packet formats.

Hi Hide-san,

The DS90UB941AS-Q1 can support RGB565 but it is an FPD-Link III serializer and must be paired with an FPD-Link III deserializer like the DS90UB924-Q1.

I have one more question for SN65DSI83.

We would like to use SN65DSI83 at the following conditions so MIPI and LVDS have different RGB format.

Can I use SN65DSI83 ?

If yes, we would like to disable DATA LANE 3.

Is this setting possible?

And, could you please let us know the suitable setting of CHA_24BPP_MODE?

SoC/MIPI(RGB888) => SN65DSI83 => LCD module/LVDS(RGB666)

Hi Hide-san,

Yes the SN65DSI83 can be used here. The data lanes cannot be disabled. They should just be left unconnected if unused.

Please review section 7.4.3 of the datasheet. For an 18bpp panel the format will either be that of Figure 9 or that of Figure 12, depending on the SoC format.
