1G/10G redriver/repeater selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100BR210

Dear TI expert,

I am looking for a solution for the application as showed in the diagram.

In my design, 2* 1G/10G SFP is on the I/O management card and the 1G/10G TX/RX signal pass through the connector and connect to the ASIC.

We need 2* two channel redriver/repeater on the RX side of I/O management card and also the ASIC card.

And it need to be transparent as AN will be performed between the host and the link partner.

Could you help advise?

  • Greetings,

Redriver signal conditioning devices work best when just a single part is used in the signal path. In this situation, a redriver is placed in the signal path such that signal attenuation occurs on the input of the redriver and this provides the best option to enable the redriver to do its job. Cascading two redrivers/equalizers complicates system bring up.

If i understand your diagram correctly, essentially you have a single redriver in the signal path and the redriver input has high signal attenuation on its input. It would be a good idea to use redriver IBIS-AMI model and do overall system modeling using your connector and pcb s-parameter model.

Please consider DS100BR210 configured in 10G-KR mode for this application. You may need to use just one channel of this part and therefor you would need two parts: On sitting on ASIC side and another on SFP side. Please send me email at nasser.mohammadi@ti.com so we can send you IBIS-AMI model for this device. Additionally please provide a more detailed block diagram of this application. For example, how many SFP modules and what is the end application.

    Regards,, Nasser
