TPS65987D: Can you use both PP_HV1 and PP_HV2 FET set Power Paths in parallel in a Dual Role Power environment?

Hi, we got a similar arrangement to that espoused by Daniel Baldor in https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/p/712632/2629155?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=TPS65987#2629155, except that we are DRP. Both PP_HV1 and PP_HV2 are tied (via of course the 10mΩ sense resistor) to the Drain of Q1 of a BQ25713 Sink/Source arrangement. Do you now have firmware patches that support such arrangement and that has the smarts of knowing that the VBus current is the sum of the currents flowing through both FETs sets?

Hi Georg,

Yes, you should be able to connect them both in a DRP configuration. You may just have to configure the project settings differently. I will confirm with my team and get back to you on the FW support for this functionality.

Hi Georg,

You should be able to connect the power paths together for this functionality. However, we have never tested this configuration and so we cannot guarantee performance. We recommend to follow the datasheet and use the device the way it is described in the document.
