DP83867E: 2 pcs DP83867 configured to different MII interfaces with a shared MDIO

Hi team

The customer used a processor LS1012 with 2 MACs (RGMII and SGMII). The customer wants to know if they could separately connect 2 pcs DP83867E to these two interfaces when shared a common MDIO.

In other words, is it possible to configure the two DP83867E with different communication interfaces when shared a common MDIO?

Hi Stone,

Yes you can have two PHYs sharing the same MDIO and MDC for CMI communication.

Please ensure that both PHYs have different PHY Addresses configured

Will one PHY connect to 1 MAC as SGMII and then 2nd PHY connect to 1 MAC as RGMII?

Yes. And these two PHYs shared a common MDIO.

Yes it is ok for them to share MDIO and MDC as long as they have different PHY addresses.
