Hello team,
Could you advise on the length difference between MDI signal traces?
On the customer board, MDI TX+ and TX- have length difference of 3mm while operating in 100Mb/s. Customer is trying to shorten this length gap, and they are asking how much of length gap is acceptable to the maximum. I believe it's surely better as short as possible as noted in DS, but 3mm causes only 0.15% of skew in signal eye (wavelength of 100Mb/s = (2*10^11 mm/s) / (100M) = 2000mm, thereby 3mm / 2000mm = 0.15%). Does it really make issue on MDI signal transmission?
If so, could you let me know the allowable length gap to guide the customer?
Thank you!
Hello Kim,
I am checking internally about this 3mm difference and should be able to get back in a day or two.
