DP83869HM: Does it support IEEE 802.3z/AB 1000Base-T/SX/LX/ZX ?

Part Number: DP83869HM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869

Hi,

Does the Gigabit Physical Layer (PHY) Transceiver DP83869HM support 802.3 z/AB 1000Base-T/SX/LX/ZX?

Regards,

Aayush

  • DP83869 supports 1000Base-T.

Can you please share functionality of other standards you are referring to and which application you need these for ?

    Regards,
    Geet

  • Hi Geet,

Thanks for your message. The other standards LX SX and ZX transceiver interfaces are incorporated into IEEE standard 802.3z.

802.3z is commonly referred to as 1000BASE-X, where -X refers to either -CX, -SX, -LX, or ( non-standard) -ZX.

I am designing a fiber optic media converter. The different X transceiver interface functions in my application should allow for different fibre optic cables, SFP’s and Ethernet switches to connect to the media converter.

I am looking for a transceiver that is capable of supporting these standards.

    Many Thanks,

    Aayush

  • HI Aayush,

Thanks for the explanation. DP83869 is compliant to 1000Base-X standard.Given -KX, -SX, -LX are subset of it, it shall be able to support them as well.

    Regards,

    Geet

  • Hi Geet,

Thanks for your message. Sorry, our team has one question regarding the application of DP83869 for the device that we are making.

From what we can see on the datasheet, the DP83869HM only complies with IEEE 802.3.  It does not include the other standards such as 802.3z/AB.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could please reply a Yes or No in front of the standards mentioned below that DP83869 supports.  We would be considering a bulk buy of this IC if it supports all these standards.

    IEEE 802.3 10Base-T

    IEEE 802.3u 100Base-TX

    IEEE 802.3ab, 1000Base-T

IEEE 802.3z 1000Base-SX/LX ( Where SX is Multimode wave length capable and LX is Single Mode Capable up to 20km) .

I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

    Many Thanks,

    Aayush

  • IEEE 802.3 10Base-T : Yes ( 10Base-Te)

    IEEE 802.3u 100Base-TX : Yes

    IEEE 802.3ab, 1000Base-T : Yes

IEEE 802.3z 1000Base-SX/LX ( Where SX is Multimode wave length capable and LX is Single Mode Capable up to 20km) : Yes ( 1000Base-X)

  • Hi Geet,

Thanks for your message and sorry for replying late.

    This solves our problem.
