USB-C-PD-TKT-EVM: I wonder if it is possible to cope with USB 3.1 package using FPGA DE10-standard compiled with Verilog code

Part Number: USB-C-PD-TKT-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB542

As title, I would like to do a research on TCP & USB 3.1 transfer with Type-C interface. I want to know if it is possible to connect FPGA DE10-standard with USB-C-PD-TKT-EVM using GPIO ports?

  • Hello,

I am not familiar with the FPGA DE10 board, but if you are connecting via the USB Ports, I don't see any reasons you shouldn't be able to connect to it.

However, I don't believe you will be able to access the GPIO pins on the USB-C-PD-TKT-EVM as it does not have any testpoints for them on the board. If you are looking for Type-C only interface, I would recommend looking into those devices.

     do you have any suggestions?

    Thank you,

    Hari

  • Thanks a lot for replying! I must  misunderstand something, because I saw GPIO on the schematics of USB-C-PD-TKT-EVM. It seems to be pins contains in the  TPS65987DDJ rather than physical pins that I can use for design. Am I right?

In additional, if it is possible, can you please recommend me some interface developing module to buy with the protocol USB 3.1 and interface Type-C?  Thank you so much.

    BGs

    Eddie Huang.

  • Hi Eddie,

I think you are talking the USB3.0 device which may contain TX,RX for the high speed data translation.

The TPS6598X series will not have this pin for data communication.

You can check the any other product line to find whether have the suitable device.

For the USB3.1 in type C port device , you may check the TUSB542 can meet your application or not,  thanks!
