DS90UB926Q-Q1: Can display FPDLINK3 serializers (e..g. 926) mate with camera FPDLINK3 deserializers (e.g. 964)?

Part Number: DS90UB926Q-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB940-Q1, DS90UB953-Q1, DS90UB964-Q1

Hello,

are display serializers compatible to camera deserializers and vice versa?

So can I connect a 926 to a 964 and transport video from a CMOS source to a CSI sink?

Is there any official documentation according this compatibility?

  • Hello Juergen,

FPD-Link camera SERDES use different frame format and coding than our display SERDES but there are ways to bridge to different interfaces like this using a chain of devices.

For example DS90UB940-Q1 outputs CSI-2 which can then be used as an input to DS90UB953-Q1. What sort of connection topology are you trying to achieve? Maybe we can suggest a solution. DS90UB926-Q1 and DS90UB964-Q1 are both deserializers so I'm not sure what you are asking about there.

If you are looking to simply deserialize into CSI-2 from an IVI serializer like 925/927/929 for example, then you could connect DS90UB940-Q1 directly to any of those serializers since it is part of the display portfolio

    Best Regards,

    Casey

  • Hello Casey,

yes, you are right about the 926 and 964 I mentioned. This is nonsense.

After I reviewed the requirements the questions would be: "Can I connect one of 925/947/949 to a 954?"

But you already answered the general question behind that: "No, it is not possible to connect them directly."

The use case behind this question is, that we have a measurement system with a 954 and we wanted to know whether we also could simply connect and measure display outputs with it. So: No, not possible without hardware changes..

Thank you for your reply. If you like you could fix the topic of this request that others can find it corrected.

    Best regards,

    Juergen
