DP83826I: Can DP83826I be used with RJ45, part number 74982104400 product by Wurth?

Part Number: DP83826I

 Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using DP83826I with RJ45, part number 74982104400 product by Wurth.

 Wruth RJ45, 74982104400 is attached.

Could you tell me whether DP83826I can be used with the RJ45 or not?

If the answer is no, could you please tell me the device which can be used with the RJ45?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

 Best regards,

 Kazuya.

  • Hello Kazauya,

No we recommend "not" using  "74982104400" as it has CT terminal of both the channels connected together. In our EVMs we have used discrete magnetic :

  •  Hello Vikram,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Could I ask you an additional question as the follow?

     Q. How about DP83822? At Figure 33 on page 92 of the device datasheet, the trans center taps are connected together and pulled up to 3.3V or 1.8V.

Also the datasheet says that Center tap of the transformer must be connected to analog supply rail (AVD) with decoupling capacitors

    close to the transformer.

Can Wruth RJ45 part, "74982104400" be used for DP83822?

Thank you again and best regards,

     Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya,

Yes it can be used for DP83822.

  •  Hi Vikram,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I will tell the customer that "74982104400" can be used for DP83822.

And could you please give me your comments for the follwoing question?

     Q. DP83822 EVM uses HX1188FNLT (Pulse Electronica Network) as you said.

And the center taps of HX1188FNLT are connected to GND via 75ohm resistor and 0.01uF on the EVM.

This connection is big different from Figure 33, TPI Network Circuit in DP83822 datasheet.

What is the reason of this big difference?

Why is Figure 33 not changed to similar circuit with EVM?

Thank you again and best regards,

     Kazuya.

  • Hello Kazuya,

There are different kind of magnetics available in the market with different structures. CT being different is a must have for our phy's performance. But other network difference that you mentioned is ok for us to support.

May be in datasheet we should highlight that CT being different is must have and others as the recommendation.
