I have an custom application where two devices communicating as per shown below.I need to do tapping of all three differential signals of RS422 and send that data to FPGA.
its a kind of data logger.
I have designed below circuit to accomplish above application.Note : I won't be able to share whole schematic due to confidentiality issue.
I have couple of doubts which are listed below.
(1)Is it ok to choose AM26C32 part for this application? If not then please suggest suitable part number.
(2)Can you verify termination which i have provided in above circuit? If its not suitable then please suggest suitable termination network for this.
(3)If 120ohm parellal termination is ok then is it enough to put 0603 part or i require bigger on.(Cosidering standard RS422).
(4)What will be differential impedance of in1+/- or similar traces in layout? 100ohm or 120ohm?
Abhi,
I think your schematic should work with AM26C32. The termination is always recommended for RS485/422 applications. I think the 0603 footprint works. However in the layout, please put these resistors close to the pins. You can find the discussion about the PCB impedance in this app note, in which Table 1 shows the equations for estimation. A free software AppCAD can also be used for calculation.
