TPS25750: PPHV Source current capability

Part Number: TPS25750

Hello,

According to datasheet, I believe that PPHV can be used as "Source" (I refered to "Figure 10-2. Power Source and Sink configuration with the Battery Charger (BQ)" of "10.1.1 USB-PD Power Application Design Considerations".)

However, Absolute max and "Ipp_hv" define only "sink current".

(Ipp_hv is defined "VBUS_IN to PPHV". I understood this means "Sink" mode.)

Q1. Is my understanding that "PPHV" can be used as "Source" correct ? (Since "VBUS_IN" is defined as only "input" at "TPS25750D Pin Functions", I asked.)

Q2. If answer of Q1 is yes, could you please tell me source current capability ?

BR,

  • Hello Ryuuichi,

Q1. Yes your understanding is correct that the PPHV to VBUS_IN power path is bi-directional and can be used as a source and sink. The TPS25750 is in a pre-release state which will officially RTM in Q4. Since it is pre-RTM, we are still in the stages of finishing the definition of the device, as well as fix in potential issues with the documentation. I will address this concern with the team so they can incorporate this fix into a future release of the datasheet.

Q2. Source current capability is the same. Once again, we are still in the process of editing the collateral for the TPS25750, so I will relay this information for the team responsible for the datasheet so we can make this definition more clear
