Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA8418, , TCA8418E
Hi guys - It appears that modern GPIO expanders (like the TCA8418 and TCA8418E can operate Open Drain in output mode, and have (optional) internal pullup resistors and debounce (shmitt-trigger) circuits in input mode. I need 24 additional I/Os in a relatively small space (and, my board house can't well handle DSBGA). Unfortunately, TI’s 24 I/o offering, the TCA6424A, is missing these valuable features (see in particular Figure 29, note D, of the TCA6424A datasheet), which means it would require a whole bunch of external resisters when connected to Open Drain outputs on other ICs. (NXP’s PCAL6524, in the same footprint as the TCA6424A, appears to be better equipped in this regard...) Any chance we'll see an upgraded 32-pin UQFN GPIO expander with such features from TI any time soon?
