TCAN4550: Need to use driver on linux 4.9

I need to backport the TCAN4550 linux driver to v4.9 (thanks, nvidia). In this thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/t/855657 a backport to 4.14 was mentioned by Max Robertson, but the branch (tcan_414_backport) is no longer available. Where would I find the backport?

Hi Jake,

As Max noted in the other thread....generally this forum is for device-specific questions rather than questions on software implementation. We will try our best to help but our expertise is much more on the device side rather than the processor configuration.

One of the application engineers has been assigned this thread and will help follow-up shortly.

Ravi,

Thank you for your reply. I understand that this forum is for device specific questions, but the driver I'm referring to was written by TI for the device, so it is in a sense related. However any help will be greatly appreciated!

The TCAN4550 Linux driver has been incorporated into the Linux Kernel since that e2e thread was written and the Linux community is now generally responsible for support of this driver.

TI's developer backported the driver to this older version and it was placed on his personal repository and it does appear the link is broken due to a structural change in he has made, or by removing it completely. I will have to reach out to him to inquire about this driver before I can give you an answer and or an updated link.

Hi Jake,

The developer had removed the driver from his public repository once the upstreamed code was released. I have asked him to put the backported code back into his repository for your reference. Howeer since the driver has been upstreamed, there will be no support for this driver or further backports.

The only driver I could find upstream is the one for 5.4+.
