TUSB9261: SATA compliance test tool

Part Number: TUSB9261

Hi

I'd like to check SATA Gen1 & Gen2 signal integrity, do you have any tool or document to show how to make TUSB9261 into compliance mode?

Best regards,

Norman.

  • Hi Norman,

Please accept my friend request so that I can send you the documentation through E2E DM. Please post on your original thread once you have done so.

  • Hi Malik,

Thank you for providing the document, I'm able to perform the compliance test.

But my lone bit pattern (LPB) test item is failed due to insufficient eye amplitude, are there any registers or compensation resistor can change the SATA driving strength?

    Best regards,

    Norman

  • Hi Norman,

Unfortunately the SATA TX performance is fixed and there re no register available to help improve the performance here. It seems you will need to implement a redriver in your design. What is your board trace length on the state side? I can also try to review the layout to see if any improvements can be made.

  • Hi Malik,

The SATA board trace is about 1500 mil, it's not too long but there is a high speed quick switch(QSW) place in the middle of SATA trace, it causes a little bit signal attenuation. We've tried to skip the QSW and got the pass result.

we are planning to re-spin to optimize the board trace as short as possible, expect the short trace could cover the attenuation caused by QSW.

Could you let me know TUSB9261 DEMO board's SATA trace length?

    Best regards,

  • Hi Norman,

The TUSB9261 Demo boards SATA trace length is ~450 mils.
