TUSB8020B: use USB C with TUSB8020 for up stream port

Part Number: TUSB8020B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB542

To keep the TUSB8020 hub board lower, USB C connector is better option for up stream port.  Standard USB C/C cable will be used between host USB C port and this hub. In this case, If I connect only one group SS signals, would there be any concerns  on enumeration on host?

Thanks for any help

  • Hi Kelly,

I would recommend using a mux like the TUSB542 to switch SS to both sides of the Type-C connector.  If that is not possible, then the hub will only connect at USB 2.0 in one orientation of the Type-C cable and at both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 when the cable is flipped.
