DS160PR410: The solution with PCIe 4.0 protocol

Part Number: DS160PR410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS250DF410,

Recently, we have a general test board project, which uses the PCIe 4.0 protocol. The main requirements are to support eye diagram test, error code test, balance adaptive and parameter adjustable, loopback and JTAG boundary scan.

We have learned that there are two types of IC for pci4.0, both of which are redriver. After preliminary understanding, ds160r410 can not meet the functional requirements.

The other Ethernet retimer: ds250df410 is more consistent with the functional features, but the rate is not compatible with 16gbps.

Would you like to know if there is a retimer that supports PCI 4.0 / 3.0 (priority 4.0) and meets the requirements mentioned above.

In addition, does ds160df410 support eye diagram test, bit error rate test, equalization adaptive and parameter adjustment?

  • Greetings Yang,

DS250DF410 does not meet PCIe 4.0 protocols and thus it should not be used for this application.

DS160PR410 is a linear redriver for PCIe Gen4 signal conditioning applications. It is targeted to be used in a closed system whereby insertion loss on both ends - CPU and end point - are within certain limits. In this mode, CPU and end point perform adaptive equalization, eye diagram measurements, and parameter adjustments. In other words DS160PR410 performs as an analog buffer and provides both AC and DC gain to improve signal integrity.
