Hello team,

Is the following configuration possible when using DP83822I?

"PHY → Capacitor → Connector → Harness → Connector → Capacitor → PHY"

This configuration is used at board connection in the product the customer is developing.

Hello Shotaro-san,

Is it for communication over fiber or is it for copper cable? 822 supports fiber communication with cap coupling (as mentioned in the datasheet). I am checking if we have some data for cap coupled application with normal ethernet copper cable also.

The communication is for copper cable.

So please check if we have some data for cap coupled application with normal ethernet copper cable.

Yes cap coupled application is possible. We need to write following extra register to make transmitter of 822 support cap coupled application :

Can DP83822I be used with EtherCAT (100Mbps)?

"Is it correct to recognize that setting to write 0x0024 to register <0x0404> does not affect the required specifications of EtherCAT?"

That means "can DP83822I be used as EtherCAT when register <0x0404> is set to 0x0024?"

Hello Shotaro-san,

Register 0x0404 is required to be written only for cap coupled application. For application with magnetics this write is not required.

EtherCAT is supported for both cap coupled and magnetic application.
