DP83869HM: to interface between MII and SGMII

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer wants to interface DP83869HMR  between MII and SGMII. The processor they are using only support MII (fast Ethernet, up to 100BASE) but SFP Transceiver (RJ-45, 1000BASE-T), they like to used, requires SGMII interface. They will force the SFP to operate at 100Mb/sec. Is it possible?

    Hi Art,

    The customer cannot use a 1000Base-T SFP if the MAC is only supporting MII at 100Mbps. This will cause a data through put mismatch. If they are using MII on the MAC interface they need to select a 100Mbps fiber transceiver. Now if they are selecting 100Mbps fiber transceiver we can suggest the use of the DP83822IF? It supports MII and 100Mbps fiber mode.
