DP83867IR: Bob smith termination capacitor change from Rev E to F

Part Number: DP83867IR

Hi team,

Could you give me comment on following customer question?

Q1. Could you tell me why the cable side terminated capacitor value is changed from Rev E to Rev F datasheet? If using 10nF 2kVF is kept as Ref E datasheet description, will it cause any issues? For Rev E, the cable side terminated capacitor recommends 10nF 2kV, however, 1nF 2kV is recommended in Rev F.

Best regards,

Takeshi Sasaki

  • Hi Takeshi,

The change from 10nF to 1nF capacitor in the Bob Smith termination network is to better comply with the IEEE standard better. Both 10nF and 1nF capacitors have reliably passed compliance testing with the DP83822 but our systems team determined that a 1nF was a better selection based on the IEEE specifications.

    Regards,
    Justin
