TFP401: HDMI to RGB schematics design

Dear team,

My customer is designing HDMI to RGB interface transition with TFP401, they have several schematics design questions as below:

1. For HDMI connector, should Pin15/16/19(SCL/SDA/HPD) be left NC?

2. The LCD screen used only have 24 pins for RGB signal, so PIXS should be tied low and only connect QE with screen?

3. What's the use of CTL[1:3] and how should it connect to screen?

Sorry that I have little knowledge about video interfaces. Would you please help me on that?

Hi Charles,

1. HPD should be connected to 5V while SCL/SDA can be left NC

2. Correct

3. They are GPO pins. You can leave them as NC if not needed.

The best way to gain knowledge about this device in particular is to read the datasheet and the DVI spec: http://www.cs.unc.edu/Research/stc/FAQs/Video/dvi_spec-V1_0.pdf
