DP83869HM: Latency and Jitter Specifications

Part Number: DP83869HM

Hi team,

My customer is thinking of using DP83869HM in their project and had the following questions.

  1. Our application is a media converter between 1000BASE-X and 1000BASE-T.  From the data sheet, I believe we can achieve this by using hardware strapping and no software/firmware is required.  Is this understanding correct?
  2. The data sheet states the latency is low but only the latency from RGMII < - > Cu is given.  Would you know if there is a latency number for the Fiber < - > Cu?
  3. From the data sheet, there is a total output jitter of 192 ps for the 1000BASE-X, would there be a breakdown between Rj and Dj from that total jitter?  Also, is there any jitter tolerance number for the 1000BASE-X input?
  4. Would TI sell this part in die form?

Thank you in advance for your support!

Errol

  • Hi Errol,

    Question 1:

Yes, your understanding is correct. However, it is recommended to have software/firmware available to make any debug efforts easier.

    Question 2:

We can take this question offline, as those specs are internal.

    Question 3:

May I ask why the breakdown is necessary? What application is this information for?

    Question 4:

No, TI will not sell this part in die form.

    Regards,
