Hello team,

The datasheet says that if enable function is not used, EN pin should be pulled up with between 1kohm and 10kohm.

But EN pin has also internal pull-down so customer don’t think pull-up resistor is needed.

Could you advise why pull-up resistor is needed at disable function of EN ?

Are there any concerns when EN is tied to 3.3V directly ?

Michiaki,

If the low-power modes of the device are not to be used, then the EN pin needs to be pulled up. The internal pull-down is so the device defaults to a low-power state in case the signal controlling EN is lost or disconnected, that way the device isn't stuck in normal mode and in a known state.

If the customer has no use for the low-power modes, then the external pull-up will keep the device in normal mode indefinitely.

Hello Eric,

Customer think it would be ok that EN pin is tied to 3.3V directly it means that there is no pull-up resistor.

Are there any concern ?

Yes, tying the EN pin directly to 3.3V will be okay.

Michiaki,

The resistor is used to limit the current in case there isn't some sort of overvoltage input that occurs. Since the signal is coming from an MCU, this is not likely, but it's always a good recommendation to have some sort of pull-up resistor there just in case. If the customer knows this won't be an issue in their application, then it is not needed.
