TPD5S116: About resistor between HDMI connector and device.

Hello,

My customer will use TPD5S116 on HDMI application.
The resistor(180 ohm) is placed between HDMI connector and device.
CES_CON pin -> resistor(180 ohm) -> HDMI connector
SCL_CON pin -> resistor(180 ohm) -> HDMI connector
SDA_CON pin -> resistor(180 ohm) -> HDMI connector
HPD_CON pin -> resistor(180 ohm) -> HDMI connector

(Question)
In this case, is there any problem or concern on TPD5S116?
They have a concern of I2C drive capacity on device.

Hi Tao, Why do you add 180ohm on these pins？There will be some influence on speed and driver ability as well. Best regards, Ansel

They will use for damping resistor.

Normally, does the HDMI specification prohibit the damping resistor from being placed between the HDMI connector and the device?

Or due to the damping resistor, should they need to verify as HDMI specification?

Hi Tao,

I am not sure that the HDMI specification has the detail for damping resistor. But for the high speed signal, there is better to make clear on data line.
