DS90UB940N-Q1: questions about DS90UB940N-Q1 paired with two different serializer

Part Number: DS90UB940N-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN3257-Q1

Hi team,

customer want to use DS90UB940N-Q1 paired with two different serializers, one from SRV(720p,60fps), the other from DMS(720p,60fps).

They wonder:

1. whether 940N can only output one of the video stream in the same time?

2. if yes, whether change 0x34[4-3] between 10 and 11 online to realize the switch between SRV and DMS? no other configuration needed?

3. they only use one TX port(single channel CSI) now, whether it is ok for this application?

thanks!

  • Hi Terry,

The 940N can only accept one Ser at a time.

For this kind of applications, they may need to find a high speed switch and have it receive and switch SER outputs.

The register 0x34 is used for one Ser and to switch between single link vs dual link. It is not applicable for two SERs.

  • Hi Charley,

thanks! whether SN3257-Q1 is suit for this application? whether it will have bad influence on the signal quality? if yes, is there any recommended display deserializer can support two video stream input? thanks again!

  • Hi Terry,

We currently do not have a deserializer that can support two video stream from two Ser.

It is preferred to get a switch for differential signals. Please check with the high speed mux team.

The switch typical has some loss and may degrade the channel. The customer need to make sure proper routing are used and the impact are minimal to meet their desired cable length.

    Best Regards,
