TPS65987D: Charging on PC

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25703A,

I have a customer using the TPS65987D and bq25703A for USB-C battery charging and external power operation.   Theyare using the default configuration firmware on the TPS65987D firmware generated by our software, stored in an external SPI flash.   Our USB-C connection also contains a USB-2 data connection.

The charging works fine when plugged into a valid charger that can provide 12v 3A or better.  But when connected to a PC for a data connection there is an issue.  Sometimes the product will switch back and forth to be powered off the USB-C then off the battery.   The product draws something like 12v  1.1A.   So a PC cannot provide enough current.   The customer would like for it to just not try to charge or use the USB as a power source if it cannot meet this requirement.

Is a way to configure either (or both) of these chips to recognize the USB-C source capability cannot meet the sink requirements and to not use it.  In theory all of this information is (or can be) available in the USB-C communication protocol.  This would help us avoid issues where someone plugs it into a charger or PC that is incapable of supplying enough power.

Thanks so much for your help.
