TCAN4550-Q1: How to check the parameters.

Guru 11265 points
Part Number: TCAN4550-Q1

Hi team,

Could you tell me how to check these parameters?

According to "8.4.6.5 CAN Bus Short Circuit Current Limiting",
%Transmit
%Receive
%REC_Bits
%DOM_Bits

Sincerely.
Kengo.

  • Kengo,

This is something that can either be analyzed by a CAN analyzing module/software like the Vector CANalyzer. Or this is something that the user can calculate/know based on the design of their system and the known messages that will occur on the CAN bus in question.

    Regards,

  • Eric,

    Thank you for your reply.

this is something that the user can calculate/know based on the design of their system and the known messages that will occur on the CAN bus in question.
     -> What kind of message?
Can I check it in the datasheet?

And then, I'd like to calculate IOS(avg).
    How can IOS(SS)_REC be calculated?
Can I use the IOS_REC listed in the datasheet?

    Sincerely.
    Kengo.

  • Kengo,

I was referring to the messages that will be sent on the CAN bus. Typically the system designer(s) have an idea of the CAN frames that will be sent, and can calculate/estimate the time that the bus is in recessive state vs. dominant state for the overall time the system is active.

For the calculation, yes, both the parameters IOS_REC and IOS_DOM are the steady state short-circuit current values for the recessive and dominant state, respectively. These parameters should be used in this calcualtion.

    Regards,
