DS90C241: Can i use ceramic capacitors only for decoupling?

Part Number: DS90C241
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90C124,

Hei,

We are using the DS90C241 and DS90C124 for a different reason then designed, but it works really great for that. We are not utilizing all channels and have a clock frequency of 16Mhz.

We are using it to transmit several uart and GPIO signals over long distance fiber.

According the datasheet, the decoupling capacitors should be a mix of tantalum/electrolyte and ceramic. My question is, can we substitute the tantalum/ceramic capacitors with ceramic capacitors with the same capacitance?

Kind regards,

Rob Hoeks
