DP83869HM: How to test actual speed of Ethernet link?

Hi team,

My customer is using DP83869HM designing two board, one is 100Mbps Fiber mode, the other is 100Mbps copper mode, MII interface.

They have set all the registers and straps to 100Mbps, but still need to test the actual maximum data rate of these two Ethernet links.

Can you help suggest how to test the actual maximum data rate of these two Ethernet link and prove it truly reached 100Mbps?

How did you verify the maximum data rate of an Ethernet link in your side? What test equipment will need?

Hi Yunjing,

Verifying actual throughput is a higher layer functionality and is outside the scope of this forum. A connected device may be able to monitor throughput, but this is not a capability of the physical layer.

The device is tested for IEEE 802.3 1000Base-T, 100BaseTX, 10Base-Te,1000Base-X, 100Base-FX compliance.
