Could you recommend lower price device which supports safety manual than TCAN4550-Q1?

    David,

    The TCAN4550-Q1 is the only device with its functionality (CAN controller + transceiver) that TI has in its portfolio, and the only device our group has with a full safety manual at the moment. 

    What kind of application would this be used for and what kind of function does the customer need from the device?

    Hi Eric,

    Thanks for your support.

    EE is automotive BMS for EV.

    MCU in BMS <-> CAN <-> other ECU

    In above structure, CAN supports only ASIL-B however current sensing has to support ASIL-C.

    So customer is finding the CAN transceiver which supports ASIL-c by itself.

    David,

    Understood, TI can provide functional safety documentation for our CAN transceivers, and that information can be used to implement into an ASIL rated system. Our transceivers aren't rated to an ASIL level themselves. We have the safety manual available for TCAN4550-Q1 and will have one available for the TCAN1145-Q1 as well.
