SN65LVDS93B: LVCMOS Setup / Hold time

Part Number: SN65LVDS93B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TFP401A, DS90C387A

Hi All,

I have a question about SN65LVDS93B.
Please tell me the Setup / Hold time shown in Fig.6.

By the way, I would like to connect TFP401A and SN65LVDS93B.
It can connect by the LVCMOS signal of TFP401A and SN65LVDS93B, right?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

The setup and hold time is attached below. I need to review the TFP40A datasheet and back with you by 11/9.

  • Hi Aaron-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
I understand the SN65LVDS93B Setup / hold time.
I think, if the CLK frequency is fast, the SN65LVDS93B may not be received.

I am waiting for your contact.

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

Are you trying to convert DVI-LVDS? If it is, I would suggest to use DS90C387A. Please see apps notes below.

  • Hi Aaron-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
Since the setup time of DS90C387A is 2.7nsec, is it possible that the signal of TFP401A cannot be received?
In the case of TFP401A under the following conditions, I think that it can be received by SN65LVDS93B.
    Is my understanding correct?

    Can SN65LVDS93B connect with TFP401A?
Why can't we use it with SN65LVDS93B?
Or why would you recommend the DS90C387A?

    Best Regards,
    Ishiwata

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

Are you trying to convert the DVI-to-LVDS for your application? The reason I suggested to use the 387A is because it has two channels. Otherwise, you would need at least two SN65LVDS93Bs. We had used the TFP401A with 385A. We haven't used SN65LVDS93B, but I think it should be the same. Regarding the timing for the setup and hold time, it depends on your DVI input. When there is no staggering, 2 pixels falling/rising clock edge. If you are OK using two SN65LVDS93Bs, you should be OK.

  • Hi Aaron-san,

    Sorry for the late contact.
    Thank you for your reply.
The customer's configuration wants to convert from HDMI to LVDS.
Only video data will be transmitted without transmitting audio data.

I understand, For Dual, DS90C387A and for single, SN65LVDS93B.

Does HDMI always necessary dual input?

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

No. The determination of the channel of the OLDI is based on your display panel implementation single or dual pixel format. From the signal path perspective, they are the same, but the only differences between HMDI vs DVI is HMDI carried video + audio.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
