SN65HVD3088E: Operation of SN65HVD3088E

Part Number: SN65HVD3088E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THVD1450

Dear TI Team

I have been asked by our customers how the SN65HVD3088E works specifically when Vcc = 3 to 4.4V.
(Our customers understand that Vcc = 3-4V does not work properly)

The Vcc value of SN65HVD3088E is described in the data sheet as follows.

From the specifications of the data sheet above, there is no risk of the device being damaged, but we believe that the operation will be different from the operation described in the data sheet.

If the voltage is lower than the recommended voltage range (for example, Vcc = 3 to 4.4V) like this time, can you tell me specifically what kind of operation it will be?

 Best Regards,

Y.Ottey

  • Hi Y.Ottey,

Device functionality is not defined outside of the recommended supply range. If the device appears to function in these ranges, we cannot guarantee any operational specs like timing, slew rates, output voltages, etc. Like you said, such conditions will not cause damage to the device unless the absolute maximum spec is violated.

Devices that are specifically designed to work with a wider supply voltage range such as THVD1450 will define behaviors in these ranges. Would the customer be interested in such a solution?

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
