TPS65987DDJ: Asking for the TPS65987 Boot mode

Part Number: TPS65987DDJ
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65987

Hi Team,

Customer uses TPS65987 on the new project.

  1. The ADCIN1 can setting the Device Function Modes. Like below table. Original, the ADCIN1=0.24 at BP_WaitFor3V3_Internal mode.  TPS65987(power sink role) on customer's application cannot get the 12V power from the PD source under system without any external power adaptor condition. if connecting the external power to this application, TPS65987 can get the 12V over type C port. the root cause is that customer did not connect LDO_3V3 to flash on schematic.
  2. Right now, customer change the ADCIN=0.32 at BP_ECWait_Internal mode. Then TPS65987 can get 12V power from PD power source. And customer do not need to modify schematic.

Do TI has application note to provide the description on each mode?

  • Hello,

I am not sure I am understanding correctly. The Table 6 from the datasheet is the description that we provide for the Dead-Battery configurations. If the customer is able to use the BP_ECWait_Internal, this should be fine. This way, the PD will close the power path switch but will wait for the configurations from either the Flash or a host.

If you would like, you may read the Dead Battery Application Note for details on how that is implemented.

    Thank you,

    Hari
