DP83867IR: Whether DP83867 could support PTP 1588v2

Part Number: DP83867IR
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83640

Hi Team,

My customer now choose a 100M Base TX PHY.
The requirement are supporting $GPRMC with 1PPS and PTP 1588v2. And RGMII.

Whether DP83867 could meet customer's requirement? IF not, do you have recommendation?

  • Hi Amelie,

    I have a few questions:

    1. What is SGPRMC?
    2. Are you planning on a hardware or software implementation to fulfill your listed requirements?
    3. Why are these requirements necessary for your application?

    Regards,

    Adrian Kam

  • Hi Adrian,

    1. What is SGPRMC? GPS module and could generate the sync signal. This could be ignore.
    2. Are you planning on a hardware or software implementation to fulfill your listed requirements? Must be harward 1588V2.
    3. Why are these requirements necessary for your application? Customer's end customer need.

    I can't find 1588V2 RGMII 100M PHY in ti.com.  Do we have?

  • Hi Amelie,

We do not have a PHY that can support a physical implementation of 1588v2, RGMII, and 100M. However, we have the DP83640 which supports 1588v2 and 100M, but only has RMII and MII MAC interface. Since MII and RGMII interface uses the same number of pins, the DP83640 could be used if the MAC on your application has MII interface capabilities.

    Regards,

    Adrian Kam
