TCAN1043-Q1: TXD_DTO

Part Number: TCAN1043-Q1

Hi team,

my customer has a question over TXD_DTO.  This value of our product is longer than NXP counterpart. Customer wonders whether TXD_DTO is the shorter the better?

Per datasheet, this value sets the minimum data rate by 11bit/TXD_DTO.  So if it is too short, minimum data rate will be larger, which might not be a good thing under some circumstances. Is my understanding correct?

  • Scarlett,

Your understanding is correct, but with the DTO time on the TCAN1043-Q1, the minimum data rate is 9.2kbps. It is very unlikely that any CAN application would ever go below 250kbps, much less 9.2kbps. Other than this, there's no limiting factor between the DTO timers of both devices.

Does the customer intend to use the TCAN1043-Q1 at a low data rate?

    Regards,
