THVD1550: Short Circuit Current Limit?

Part Number: THVD1550
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THVD1450,

Hi,

I would like to use THVD1550 trx (or the THVD1450 which seems better for us, even if it is a bit slower to enable the driver).

But THVD1550 has a short circuit current of 250 mA. On the datasheet I can't find the driver behavior: I don't think I can continuously give this current for obvious thermal reasons. Where can I find this information? Is there any application?

Many Thanks,

Antonio

  • Antonio,

The short-circuit current limit defined in the datasheet is specified from A to B, B to A, and from each A and B output to -7V to +12V. So essentially, in fault conditions is the only time this short-circuit current would occur, and should not persist indefinitely since the transceiver would eventually hit overtemperature and shut down.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Regards,
