TCA6416A and TCA9539

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA6416A, TCA9539, TCA6416

Hello,

May I know the differrence between TCA6416A and TCA9539?

which is a better part for new design?

thanks, Joy

  • Hi Joy,

Some of the differences between TCA6416A and TCA9539 are:

    1) Pinout difference. TCA6416 has only one address pin.  TCA9539 has two address pins.

    2) TCA6416A is available in TSSOP, QFN and BGA.  TCA9539 is available in TSSOP and QFN only.

    3) Different I2C addresses.

The main difference is that TCA6416A allows voltage level translation, i.e. the I2C interface can be at one voltage level (VCCI) whereas the output ports can be at another voltage level (VCCP).  Because of this flexibility, TCA6416A would be recommended for a new design.
