TPS65982: I want to know the register(0x30 RX Source Capabilities Register) information.

Hello.

I read address 0x30 of TPS65982 for the purpose of checking the PD information on the monitor.

However, it is difficult to know any information from the reading.

Datasheet or Application notes do not provide detailed information in the Register bits at the address.

I would like to know the bit details of the address as shown in the attached picture.

How are you reading the register value? Are you using debug mode of the GUI?

Hello,

I read register with I2C using MCU in the designed board, not using EVM.

Therefore, it is not appropriate to debug with GUI.

Hi Emma,

When I read the Register at 0x30 of TPS65982 from the board I designed, the following values came out.
(It is connected to a monitor that supports USB3.1 Type C.)

-> Read Value(29 Bytes)

0x1D, 0x03, 0x2C, 0x91, 0x21, 0x2E, 0x2C, 0xC1,
0x23, 0x00, 0x2C, 0xF1, 0x25, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00,

Hi Kong,

The first byte is the register length. 0x1D = 29 bytes. The next registers can be put in order LSB to MSB (starting with 0x00 and ending with 0x03) and decoded in binary. This then can be read using the USB Power Delivery Rev 3.0 Version 2.0 spec, specifically take a look at pg. 117 to match the bits to what the register should decode as. Here is a screenshot from a PD analyzer, TotalPhase, that decodes the register automatically. You can use this as an example.
