DP83TC811S-Q1: Interfacing with a RGMII MAC.

Part Number: DP83TC811S-Q1

Hi Expert,

If interfacing with a normal RGMII MAC chip, is it possible the MAC+DP83TC811S-Q1 will be working fine without any driver change? I got a board designed with a USB MAC (Microchip LAN7801)+DP83TC811S-Q1, but it doesn't under Windows.  The link state is always linkup.  I suspect the MDIO operation is not compatible with traditional 100/1000BASE-T PHY.

Thanks

Peter

  • Hello Peter,

MAC + 811S Rgmii connection should work fine if Rgmii timing constraints are taken care (tsetup and thold). Depending upon the skew of signals on the board you may need to program MAC or PHY's internal Rgmii delay to meet these constraints.

You dont have access to PHY registers?
