TPS65994AD: TPS65994 can't start up correctly.

Part Number: TPS65994AD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65994

Hi all,

My customer start their TPS65994 project. We can connect PD through I2C port, see debug message and load code from EEPROM. But Device can't enter normal PD mode and just stop at default/5V. Would you please helping to check is there anything wrong in our pjt setting? Customer use tiger lake platform but there's no I2C communication through Intel or PCH currently, and they only need U3 application in their port1. Thanks for your kindly help.

  • Hi Gary,

Could you please provide some additional details on the application, such as how is the PD controller being powered? Could you please attach the schematic?

Also, once the Flash is programmed, you will need to power cycle the PD controller so that it can load the new configurations. If it is only giving the default 5V configuration, I suspect it may not be loading the configurations from Flash.

    Thank you,

    Hari

  • Hi Hari,

     1. Please see the attached file about the schematic.E597 _ 027-USB32 #12 TYPE C.pdf

    2. In 994's EVM user guide, we see user can use TIVA to upgrade EEPROM data directly. But we have FTDI and Aardvark only. Where we can get TIVA debugger? TM4C123 EVM or?

    3. Do we have to define EEPROM address in GUI?

  • Hi Hari,

In our application, customer set PPS1 as power source only. Which ADCIN / DeadBattery mode we have to set on ADCIN pin? I can read some of my setting on debug register so I think maybe EEPROM data has loaded into 994. But why it works as legacy source without PD communication?
