TUSB2046B: Insufficient Available Bus Power

Part Number: TUSB2046B

Hi Team,

This is customer request, can you please advise?

"

We use TUSB2046B on one of our cards. When we connect Flash Memory and touch panel card to this USB HUB, we get an error "Rejected One Configuration Due To Insufficient Available Bus Power". However, when we connect the same devices to the ports of this HUB via another USB HUB, the devices work. It also works when connected directly to the USB port of the CPU. It does not work when we supply the devices connected to the ports with + 5V from the outside. We couldn't figure out why. Could you help?

"

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

  • Hi Furkan,

It seems as if a OVRCURz pin may be pulled low and indicates tote h USB Host that a over current condition has taken place on a downstream port? Could you confirm the state of the OVRCURz pins during the failure? Where are the downstream ports Vbus power sourced? Is this a "ganged" application?

Note: Please expect delays in response due to US Thanksgiving holiday.

  • Hi Malik,

    This is customers reply:

Thanks a lot for the return. We also thought about this situation. However, we supply 5V power from outside. Again, the same result. So the fault code coming from the CPU is not correct. When we give the power from outside, it does not recognize the devices. It seems like there is a problem with not recognizing some device IDs. How can we overcome this?

  • Hi Furkan,

Can you have the customer check the BUSPWR pin setting of the TSUB2046B?  It sounds like the hub is configured for bus power mode so the host is limiting the devices connected based on the expected maximum power it can provide (500 mA for the entire hub + devices)  instead of the actual power available in the system.
