TUSB8042: Question for TUSB8042 Eye diagram test configuration on Android OS

Part Number: TUSB8042

Hi Team,

Our customer wants to test the TUSB8042 down stream port eye diagram on the Android OS, but they can not get the normal test signals on the downstream port. Do we have any test guidelines for this test under Android OS? Any configurations needed for our hub to implement this eye diagram test?

Thanks.

  • Hi Jacky,

The hub must receive the USB commands from the host to send test packets - it is one of the required support test modes for USB 2.0.  I am not aware of any Android test tools, there are tools available for Windows or Linux.

    Regards,

    JMMN

  • Hi JMMN,

Can you help to specify what's the commands needed for the host to send to our Hub for this test? Also, customer wants to test USB3.0 signals eye diagram output from our Hub, any comments for how to implement it?

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Jacky,

TI does not have a guide on how to implement the standard USB compliance commands in the USB host.

The customer can check section 7.1.20 of the USB 2.0 specification, to see how to create a Test Mode TEST_PACKET command.

For USB 3.0 compliance, the USB host controller will need to enable compliance mode on the downstream port under test before it can be tested. See section 7.5.5 of the USB 3.2 specification for more information.
