Hi team,

Use SN65LVDS047 and SN65LVDS048A to communicate and connect with network cable. The length of the wire is about 5 meters. The differential pin is easy to be damaged. The communication is normal before the differential pin is damaged. No damage found on TTL level pin. I'd like to know will hot plug damage the chip

    Hi Amy,

    Yes hot plugging could be damaging the device as it has not been specified to support hot plug environments. For hot insertion events you should also ensure the GND and VCC supplies are connected prior to any signal connection, because if there is no connection of VDD and GND any charge or voltage difference present at the time of connection could find its way into the device damage sensitive parts of the design.
