TRS3232E-Q1: An error rate over 57,600 baud

Part Number: TRS3232E-Q1

Hi

There is an error rate over 57,600 baud, the test waveform is below,Could you please help to analyze the possible causes?

Blue is the SCM output waveform

Yellow is the output waveform of the transceiver

The schematic diagram of the circuit is consistent with the reference design of the official website, and the value of C1-C4 is 0.1UF

Thanks!

  • Neal,

What's the supply voltage and what's the load? Can you check V+/V- voltage (pin 2 and pin 6) of different baud rate? Also can you check the supply current limit, decoupling cap and grounding (good connection)?

    Regards,

    Hao

  • Hi

It was found that the test results were related to the capacitance of V+ and V-. The capacitance of V+ and V- was changed to 0.22uF, and the baud rate of 57600 could communicate, but not above 115200.

VCC power supply is 3.3V, and C1-C4 should be 0.1UF according to the manual. This part is not consistent with the debugging results.

Is there any guideline designed for this chip TI or detailed hardware manual?

The capacitor position of V+ V- is shown in white

    thanks!

  • Neal,

Please check this blog for the capacitor impact on the device.

I suggest you check the load or disconnect the load (leave Dout pin open) to see if there is any difference. After that, you can check the supply and ground to make sure they're solid connected. Again, sometime V+/V- waveforms could give you the clue if something is wrong. Another data point is the power dissipation, which you can compare the result with the ones in this blog.

    Regards,

    Hao
